(A portrait of Elliot Dicks)
Original Oil Painting on Canvas | 70 × 100 cm
Elliot’s painted face slips between mask and self; playful, performative, and deeply vulnerable. The stark makeup blurs authenticity and artifice, reminding us that identity can be both costume and confession. For me, this image revealed a creative side of Elliot that had long remained hidden. In seeing it, I sensed he had discovered something within himself as an artist—something he may have been reluctant to share. That unveiling of curiosity and self-expression shifted my own perception of who Elliot might truly be, reminding me how identity is never fixed, but always unfolding.
