Hi, I'm Melanie.

Artist, curator, project manager, community builder, professional idea generator, and the person usually responsible for turning "Wouldn't it be cool if..." into an actual event, exhibition, or creative project.

I'm the founder of Art Escape Studios/Events and MDS Studios & Gallery, and since 2019 I've been working behind the scenes in Denmark to create opportunities for artists to share their work, connect with audiences, and grow their creative practice.

While many people know me as an artist, much of my work happens in the spaces between the artwork. I'm the one writing the project plans, hanging exhibitions, coordinating artists, solving last-minute disasters, building partnerships, applying for funding, organizing events, and occasionally wondering why I thought any of this was a good idea in the first place.

Since launching Art Escape Studios in 2019, I've helped facilitate and produce more than 60 exhibitions for over 25 local and international artists in Denmark. I have hosted more than 150 creative events for more than 90 companies and have worked with artists from diverse backgrounds and at every stage of their careers.

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is encouraging artists to stop waiting for "someday" and start sharing their work now. Sometimes all someone needs is a little push, a little guidance, and a reminder that their voice matters.

Originally from Newfoundland and now based in Denmark, I've spent much of my life building communities. Whether through art, cultural projects, education, mentorship, or advocacy, I'm passionate about creating spaces where people feel supported and inspired to take creative risks.

My background is a bit unconventional, which is probably why I love creative problem-solving so much. Alongside my work in the arts, I've spent more than twenty years in leadership and hospitality. Those experiences taught me that great ideas are important—but making them happen is where the real work begins.

At my core, I believe art should be accessible, community-driven, and a little bit brave. I believe exhibitions should tell stories, artists should feel supported, and creative spaces should be places where people genuinely want to spend time.
